All of these horses are by Otro Fracaso. I pinch myself every time I realize that we own him. He is an amazing animal.
Otro has a proven race record. Watch the race video of him on the Stallion page of my website. He walks right in the race gate with no problem and stands flat footed until it is sprung open and then handily wins FIRST. He is passing on his wonderful attitude to his offspring. They are all so very trainable. They also have the mind to handle the pressure of barrel racing at a young age. As you can also tell by his picture, he is passing on his excellent conformation and balance. But, the best promotion that I have are his winning progeny in the barrel pen and a couple on the track also.
Otro Fracaso is by a son of First Down Dash, the leading paternal grandsire of barrel horse for over a decade.
His dam is by Merridoc X Tinys Gay. His extended pedigree is also on my website. We are standing Otro to the public for $1000.

Sarah Jackson states "I have a coming three year old by him out of a Jets Payday mare. Love him. He is very level headed for such a young colt. Takes everything in stride and hauls better than most older horses. I have been around a lot of them. Very trainable, very forgiving, very fast and very big. She fell in love with her so much that we drove out there 2 months later to pick her up and let her ride with Lyndee a couple days. My daughter loves this mare. Three Corners- "They are very nice! Otro Fracaso is very under rated and his stud fee is only $1000. He doesn't have all that many foals on the ground and every single one of them really clocks! I watched 4 different ones by him in Arizona last month and all 4 clocked in the 1D. One laid down a 17.1 on a standard set and then 2 others ran a pair of 17.3. NICE!"

Otro Fracaso is an impressive, exemplary animal. Great big healthy feet, substantial bone, handsome as the day is long and a nice guy to just have around. We call him WILLY. His registered name is not one that I would have picked, but since he is a race winner, there was no changing it. His name in Spanish means Another Defeat or Another Failure. The Flores family, that raised him, bred his winning dam several times. She was a great producer. The fillies got names. The two colts were named Otro Fracaso and Un Fracaso Mas. I would say they only wanted Girls!
We purchased Willy primarily for our own use. After being asked several times, we decided to stand him to the public Shipped Semen only for $1000 lfg. We do very little advertising. he is our big secret.
As stated in the January 2014 Barrel Horse News, "An effective advertising campaign can cost $10,000 to $20,000 or more per year". This is not happening in my world. But, advertising does not make your horse any better, just better known. If you would like to talk to me about any of Otro Fracaso's offspring that I have ridden or competed on, I would love it. Otro Fracaso foals are nice minded, smooth, big and very trainable. There are many winners from a small foal crop.
He crosses very well on your cow horse, Frenchmans Guy, Su Frost, Dash Ta Fame, Fire Water Flit and a variety of race bred mares.
SELECTING A BARREL HORSE
When selecting a young horse for a future barrel horse prospect, how many barrel racers do not have a set criteria. Too often the selecton is make with out regard or sturdy of barrel horse breeding. Have you just purchased the best bred cow horse or race horse in the country? Are you hoping that he might just take to the barrels with enough speed and athletic ability to get a check? Don't forget it takes a lot of time and hard work, not to mention money. Only to have your prospect fall apart in the first go round.
The biggest factor is breeding. "Is this horse bred to be a barrel horse?" A barrel horse needs speed and athletic ability with the desire and try to put it all together. He needs to move through that cloverleaf pattern with the quickness of a deer. He needs the right personality to be able to take the pressure of run after run so that you can consistently go to the pay window. Also, the right attitude can make a horse easier to train. And, last but not least, is this horse pretty to look at, conformation to stay sound (short back, long underline, low hocks, balance, ect.) The only insurance that a prospect will be able to do any of this is in his pedigree. I mean, has any of this horse's relatives won at barrel racing, is he bred to be a barrel horse?

2013 Update: A Youth Barrel Horse
"Quick" has been easy to do everything with. Lance started riding her in March of 2010. Just watch how good she is going. No bad habits. She is a beautiful red dun, and should mature at 15.2 hands. Her dam has been a great producer for us for many years, and her foals have all been easy to train. The dam's sire, Pretty Doc, was our first stallion and he sired many barrel horses for me as well as an AQHA Champion Reining Horse.
